Mount Whitney is the highest peak in the lower 48, and tens of thousands of hikers, backpackers, and climbers of all skill levels come to give this famous mountain a try each year. Mt Whitney towers more than 10,000 vertical feet above the Owens Valley, and because of it's lofty position, it is the most sought after peak in all of North America.
The above slideshow features a mixture of ground and aerial photographs taken from a Light Sport Aircraft that is owned and operated by my long time climbing partner Mike Koerner. Thanks to Mike's expertise as a pilot and the aircraft's ability to get in close, I was able to take high resolution photos (using a 24MP digital camera) from the air.
Every photograph is unique, and the aerial images in the slideshow will give each viewer an incredibly opportunity to see Mt Whitney (and the surrounding areas of the Sierra Nevada) from a vantage point that cannot be duplicated on the ground by the Mt Whitney hiker or climber.
So sit back and hit the full screen control on the video and enjoy beautiful high resolution slides of Mt Whitney!!!
At Timberline Trails, we purpose to add many more slide shows in order to showcase more of God's wondrous creation. We hope you have enjoyed the above slideshow of Mt Whitney.
