So what is this journey called life, and how can we navigate through its maze of complexities? Is there a peak to be obtained.....a bottomless pit to be avoided? Well, only God can answer these questions, and He has provided them in a book known as the Bible.
After watching the above video, you may have many more questions. Francis Chan in the 15 minute film clip gives you the most important information that you will need to get started, and without that, there is no reason to go on. But once you take that most important step of faith in Jesus Christ, and the importance of what He has done for you, you should get started reading the most profound book of all time. That book is the Bible. Below I have included an explanation of the Bible that I found in a small Gideon Bible. You may have run across one of these Bibles in a hotel room or some other location. The words below, I believe, will give you a quick introduction to the Bible and it's purpose for your life. The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. CHRIST is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
